ISO Bid Management

FOR DAILY OPERATIONS AND INTERACTIONS WITH A DEREGULATED CENTRAL MARKET

ISO Bid Management provides needed interfaces for managing the creating and submission of bid and transactions into the market, tracking submission status, and collecting market data.

ISO Bid Management is the terminal point of the daily and real-time operational workflow, at which generation offer, load bids, and transactions are created, managed and communicated to the market. The load bids may be created using built-in integration with the Operations Load Forecasting module and Schedule Management module.

Transaction bids may be generated through integration with the Schedule Management module. Generation offers are created utilizing asset characteristics within the Operations database. The bids may be modified within ISO management, copy and pasted from other applications, or imported from an external source. After validation, ISO Bid Management communicates load forecasts, load bids, bilateral transactions, self-schedules, energy bids, and ancillary service bids into the ISO and tracks the bid status through to confirmations of submissions.

Prior to the operating day, the traders create a pre-schedule of load forecasts, bilateral transactions, and generator information that needs to be communicated to the ISO as set schedules (i.e. self-schedules) and variable energy bids. The results of the ISO auction are retrieved by ISO Bid Management automatically and passed to the scheduling system for the operating day. The real-time market (hour-ahead) are also communicated and 5-minute schedules (or dispatches) are collected as well.

In addition to awarded schedules and dispatch, ISO Bid Management retrieves additional public and private market reports published ex-ante and ex-post of the auction.

ISO Bid Management tracks the original submittals, revisions to the submissions, as well as modifications made by either the user or the ISO returned results. The user can visually compare the difference between the current submitted data and the previously submitted data.

Additional reports allow the user to track capacity committed and available to the ISO and analyze at what point in the bid curve an asset was selected in the auction.

System Configuration
ISO Bid Management contains a user-interface and framework that defines an ISO. The definition of an ISO includes the markets supported by the ISO, the products within each market and a detailed definition of each product.

A single, unified data model provides a common platform for analytic and operational products on the Operations platform. The data model provides a complete definition of the ISO zonal and nodal configuration. The portfolio definition provides one configuration point for the stations physical characteristics. The configuration manager identifies which characteristics apply to the ISO. Additional fields allow for characteristics unique to the ISO such as an ISO identifier.

Manage Market Interfaces and Bidding
The Operations ISO Bid Management solution is used in daily operations and interactions with deregulated central markets. The Bid Management module provides easy-to-use screens for executing Bid Strategies and monitoring submissions to the ISO.

ISO Bid Management includes a framework for modeling ISO's, RTO's and power exchanges world-wide. The solution shares data with Generation Management and Schedule Management to provide a seamless operations workflow.

Operations Settlements
Operations Settlements enables the validation, estimation, and verification of Settlement statements with the ISO.

  • Validation ensures the quality of the estimates used in the shadow statement calculations.
  • Estimation calculates, formats, and presents the shadow statement as defined by the user.
  • Verification checks the values in the estimated statement are within a defined tolerance range of the actual statement.

Operations Settlements is powered by ILOG Rules for .NET. The business rules are presented to the user into the charge types, determinants, and custom rules used in a calculation. Rule sets may be updated to follow market changes and internal business needs.
